PC5 – The Workshop PC

PC5 is the heart of the Retro Revival Workshop, built specifically for repairs, tutorials, and behind-the-scenes production. Unlike most of the other setups, this rig is focused on teaching, fixing, creating, and prototyping — but don’t let that fool you, it’s still a powerhouse in its own right.

Key Features & Tools

  • Microscope Camera – For ultra-close recording of soldering, circuit work, and console repairs.

  • Teleprompter – Keeps tutorials smooth by guiding through detailed script lines.

  • Elgato Stream Deck – Central control hub for recording, switching scenes, and managing workflow.

  • Elgato HD60 S & 4K Pro – Capture cards dedicated to console gameplay and microscope footage.

  • Heat Gun – A must-have tool for electronic repairs, reflows, and modding projects.

  • 3D Printing Hub – PC5 manages both Creality CR-10 S5 printers, handling slicing, monitoring, and print management for cosplay builds, console case mods, and workshop parts.

Purpose
Day to day, PC5 is the production backbone of the channel. It manages repair footage, console captures, 3D printing projects, and step-by-step modding guides — making it the central tool for building and teaching.

On the Channel & at LANs
While it mainly runs the workshop, PC5 also doubles as a gaming rig. With its RTX 3080 Ti, it’s the 3rd most powerful PC in the LAN, perfect for jumping into Fortnite or other games when friends come over for the monthly LAN sessions.

PC5 Specs

  • Ryzen 7 5800×3d

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is an 8-core, 16-thread desktop processor from 2022, notable for its groundbreaking 3D V-Cache technology. This technology stacks additional L3 cache directly onto the CPU, significantly increasing the total L3 cache to 96MB for enhanced gaming performance.

  • Nvidia RTX 3080 TI FE

The RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition (FE) is an Ampere-based enthusiast-class graphics card that delivered performance nearly identical to the top-tier RTX 3090, but with less memory. Launched in 2021 with a dual-fan "flow-through" cooling system, it was designed for maximum performance in 4K and 1440p gaming.

    Performance

    • Gaming: It offers excellent 4K gaming performance, consistently delivering over 100 frames per second in many titles at max settings. In gaming, its performance is only a few percent slower than the significantly more expensive RTX 3090 and a noticeable step up from the base RTX 3080.

    • Creative workloads: While a potent card for creative work, its 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM is half that of the RTX 3090, making the 3090 a better option for memory-intensive 3D rendering and machine learning tasks.

    Design and specifications

    • Cooling: The card uses a distinctive dual-slot, dual-fan cooling design, which was the same as the base RTX 3080 model. One fan draws air in and pushes it out the rear of the case, while the other pulls air through the card and vents it out the top.

    • Power: The card has a maximum board power (TDP) of 350W, the same as the more powerful RTX 3090. It requires two 8-pin PCIe power cables, which connect via an included 12-pin adapter.

    • Memory: It is equipped with 12GB of GDDR6X video memory on a 384-bit memory bus.

    • Ports: The card features one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs.

    Market position

    • The RTX 3080 Ti was positioned to bridge the performance gap between the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090 at a price point that was more appealing to gamers than the workstation-focused 3090.

    • However, its launch in 2021 occurred during a major GPU shortage, which drove prices well above its MSRP.

  • Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO-P

The Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO-P is a micro-ATX motherboard for AMD Ryzen processors that offers robust performance, advanced thermal management, and next-generation connectivity for a midrange gaming build

  • Hyte y60

The HYTE Y60 is an ATX mid-tower PC case designed for maximum hardware visibility, featuring a three-piece panoramic tempered glass design and a unique, integrated vertical GPU mount with a PCIe 4.0 riser cable. It uses a dual-chamber layout for clean cable management, a "cold floor" cooling design with bottom-mounted fans that draw air directly onto the GPU, and offers ample space for radiators and components. The case also includes a specialized space for half-height PCI-e cards and two storage bays in its rear chamber.
